Network Support Engineer
Role Overview:

The Network Engineering team is responsible for the automation, design, deployment, monitoring, and reliability of our network environments globally at Citadel Securities. We align with development, trading, and research teams to enable rapid change in a dynamic environment to deliver best-in-class trading systems.
We are seeking a Network Support Engineer who can rapidly integrate with our global engineering and support teams. To succeed in this role the right person must bring an attitude that no problem is too big or too small to deserve their attention. We want a colleague who can shift gears and pivot quickly to get things done, both locally and across geographies.
Location: Chicago, New York, Austin
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the reliability, availability, and performance of the Citadel Securities networks
  • Serve as an escalation point for level 2/3 network support and vendor technical assistance
  • Troubleshoot Layer 1 through Layer 4 issues with equipment counters and packet captures
  • Provide quick response to business needs by working directly with business sponsors and developers
  • Interface with exchanges, external vendors, and network peers in a clear and concise manner
  • Evaluate and create tools to enhance automation and reporting around networking and related systems.
Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of network engineering and applicable administration methods required
  • Advance knowledge and troubleshooting of transport protocols (TCP/UDP) is required
  • Advance knowledge and troubleshooting of Switching, Routing (OSPF/BGP), and Multicast (PIM/IGMP) isrequired
  • Experience designing and supporting BGP and OSPF Layer 3 routing protocols is required
  • Ability to query and analyze data independently in a spreadsheet or database is preferred
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and automation tools such as Puppet is a plus
  • Strong Linux shell experience and proficiency in a programming language (Python preferred)
  • Having designed, operated and/or managed mission-critical systems is preferred
  • Experience in the financial industry a plus but not a requirement
  • Cisco certification (CCNP/CCIE) is considered but not required

In accordance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $300,000. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
