Peng oversees all market making activities, including trading, sales, research and technology. He previously served as Head of Global Market Making, where he oversaw Citadel Securities’ global strategies across all touch points to the market: direct on-venue market making, retail brokerage flow, and institutional client flow. Peng began his career with Citadel Securities in 2006 as a Senior Quantitative Researcher.
Prior to joining Citadel Securities, he worked for Lehman Brothers and served as a Quantitative Researcher for Evnine & Associates.
Peng received a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Peking University, and subsequently attended the University of California at Berkeley as a Berkeley Fellow and graduated with a doctorate in statistics.
Global Head of FICC
Paul is responsible for the client-facing fixed income market making businesses, including interest rate swaps, government and corporate bonds and credit default swaps.
He was previously a Managing Director and Global Head of FX, Rates and Credit Execution services at UBS, with responsibility for global futures execution, FXPB, and building the fixed income agency business which included the PIN (Price Improvement Network) corporate bond and CDS trading platform, and the Neo platform for SEF traded swaps.
Paul has over 15 years of experience in financial services and has worked in London, Zurich, New York, and Chicago, with experience across e-commerce, trading, and sales. Paul has a Master of Arts in political science from the University of Glasgow and a Master of Science in finance from the University of London.
Head of Execution Services
Joseph Mecane is Head of Execution Services at Citadel Securities. In this role, he is responsible for the firm’s client-facing equity, options and ETF businesses.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mecane was Global Head of Electronic Equities at Barclays. Previously, he worked for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) for six years, most recently serving as the Head of U.S. Equities. His earlier career included roles at UBS Securities, Schwab Capital Markets, Knight Capital Group and Price Waterhouse.
Mr. Mecane is involved with numerous industry organizations, currently serving as Chairman of the Nasdaq Quality of Markets Committee and serving on the FINRA Board of Governors, the Nasdaq Exchange Board, and the Board of Trustees for the Museum of American Finance. He is also a member of the National Organization of Investment Professionals and the SIFMA Advisory Council. He was previously a member of the SEC’s Equity Market Structure Advisory Committee.
Mr. Mecane received an MBA, with honors, from the Wharton school of the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree from Pace University.
Chief Information Officer
Nawaf leads all technology-related initiatives for Citadel Securities. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Plum, Inc and Pulse Secure, LLC, and is a Venture Partner at Allegis Capital. Before joining Citadel Securities he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Cloud Platform Business Unit at VMware.
Prior to joining VMware, Nawaf served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Security Business Unit at Juniper Networks. Prior to Juniper, he served as Vice President of Engineering and Operations of Security Technology at Cisco Systems, having joined that company in 2007 through the acquisition of IronPort Systems, where he was Senior Vice President of Engineering. Before IronPort, he served as Vice President of File Systems and Services at Network Appliance, and previously held roles at Silicon Graphics, Apollo Computer and other firms. Nawaf graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts.
Jamil Nazarali is Global Head of Business Development for Citadel Securities. In this role, he is responsible for identifying opportunities for global growth and expansion across markets and into new, diverse product lines.
Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Nazarali served as a Senior Advisor to Citadel Securities CEO Peng Zhao. Before that, he was Head of Execution Services, overseeing the firm’s client market-making offerings in equities and options. He joined Citadel Securities in 2011.
Mr. Nazarali previously was Global Head of Electronic Trading at Knight Capital Group, and earlier was a management consultant at both Ernst & Young and Bain & Company.
Mr. Nazarali sits on the Board of Directors of Symphony, a messaging and collaboration platform, and serves as an Advisor to DARPA’s Financial Markets Vulnerabilities Project.
He received an MBA with high honors from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from University of Western Ontario.
