Community Impact: Mandy, a Community Leader
About the Program
At Citadel Securities, we encourage our team members to serve their communities as civic leaders. The Community Leaders program enables this support by providing our colleagues with concierge nonprofit board matching, governance training and cash grants.
How Mandy March is Helping to Offset the Financial Burden for Cancer Patients in Treatment
When her brother-in-law Jared launched the Team JMared Foundation in November 2021, Mandy March, Head of People for Engineering and Low Latency at Citadel Securities, knew she wanted to be involved. She joined the board at its founding, committed to advancing the vision Jared had set in motion.
Diagnosed with cancer earlier that year, Jared created the foundation to ease the financial burdens that often come with treatment. Grants help cover expenses such as transportation, housing, childcare and one-time payments toward rent or utilities. In partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering, the foundation has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support families through some of their most difficult moments.
“Carrying forward Jared’s legacy has been the most meaningful part of serving on the board,” Mandy shares. “Jared devoted so much of his time and energy to raising awareness for others facing the same battle. My family and I remain focused on helping patients like Jared, while keeping his name and mission alive through the foundation he worked so hard to build.”
Mandy’s experience at Citadel Securities has been central to her board service, equipping her with the skills to lead projects and organize large events that translate directly into fundraising efforts for the foundation. She helps guide initiatives from merchandise drops to planning its inaugural fundraising event in New York, coming up on October 16, while also developing volunteer opportunities with Memorial Sloan Kettering and creating a children’s book to preserve family memories. To mark Jared’s birthday this year, the foundation released a clothing and notebook line featuring his doodles. “It was amazing to be able to both raise money for Memorial Sloan Kettering and equip others with merchandise that had Jared’s art on them,” Mandy said.
Mandy also credits Citadel Securities’ Community Leaders program for enabling her to expand her impact. “Few firms invest so meaningfully in the causes their people care about,” she emphasizes. “The support for Jared’s foundation showed me how unique Citadel is in empowering employees both inside and outside of work.”
By blending personal dedication, professional expertise and the firm’s support, Mandy is amplifying Jared’s vision, easing the financial burden for families while honoring the resilience and generosity that defined his life.
